Old habits die hard and bad toilet practices provide some of the clearest examples of this adage. There are endless mistakes people make while going to the bathroom that can prove harmful. One of the most common seems innocuous on the surface: scrolling through your phone while doing your business.

Hussain Abdeh, superintendent pharmacist at Direct medicine, explained, “Using your cell phone in the bathroom is one of the most unhygienic things you can do.”

“A lot of people pass the time during a bowel movement by browsing social media, swiping on dating apps, or playing online games.”

However, as the online pharmacist explained, bringing your phone into the bathroom means it can get contaminated with germs such as feces.

“As a result, even after you’ve washed your hands, you’re still carrying seriously harmful bacteria out of the bathroom with you.”

Hygiene expert Jim Francis, who carried out the tests, said: ‘Levels of potentially harmful bacteria on a mobile were off the scale. This phone must be sterilized.

The least hygienic phone had more than ten times the acceptable level of TVC and seven were above the threshold.

The worst culprit also had 39 times the safe level of Enterobacteriaceae – a group of bacteria that live in the lower intestines of humans and animals and include insects such as Salmonella.

It had 170 times the acceptable level of fecal coliforms, which are associated with human waste.

Other bacteria, including the food poisoning bugs e.coli and staphylococcus aureus, have been found on phones, but at safe levels.

Which? Researcher Ceri Stanaway said: “Most phones didn’t have immediately harmful bacteria that would make you sick right away, but they were dirtier than they could be.

“Bugs can end up on your hands, which is fertile ground, and be sent back to your phone. They can transfer back and forth and eventually you might catch something nasty.

“What this shows is how easy it is to come into contact with bacteria. People think of toilets as something dirty to the touch, but they have less bacteria than phones.

“People need to be aware of this by observing good hygiene themselves and among other things who they pass the phone to when looking at photos, for example.”

Other Ways Germs and Bacteria Spread

According to the NHS, underwear is more likely to harbor germs than outerwear like jumpers or trousers.

“Underwear can carry germs from traces of feces (poop) and genital infections, such as thrush,” warns the health body.

“However, you can also pick up germs on your outer clothing, for example if you’re caring for a sick person or cleaning up vomit.”

Jasprit Bumrah’s smile opens a path for him to his mind. And, even on the cricket pitch, he smiles a lot.

Bumrah smiles when he takes a wicket, he smiles when he wraps the ball around the outside edge of the bat or brings it back sharply and cuts the batter in half. He smiles when he gets a gash that flies over the slide or when he is punished for a rare lack of execution and the ball quickly moves away towards the limit.

It’s almost as if, beyond the joy of playing, Bumrah is amused by the quirks of the wonderful game between bat and ball that so fascinated him. Bowling is not just a job for him, it’s his way of expressing himself, his skills, his unique talent.

For some reason, Bumrah’s famous smile had become AWOL in Johannesburg last week, during the second test. It was replaced with a brisk growl, occasional growl, rare irritability and irritability. Jasprit Bumrah was not a man at peace with himself at The Wanderers; unsurprisingly, it manifested itself in a barely believable below-par performance on a surface he knows he should have exploited better.

Jasprit Bumrah took a five to lead India’s response in the third test against South Africa. AFP

With considerable sideways movement, strong rhythm and appreciable bounce, the stage seemed set for Bumrah to propel India to its first serial success on South African soil. The hosts needed 240 to deny India, a stiff demand in the fourth inning with the dice heavily loaded against the batsmen. All India’s leaders had to do was stick to their core disciplines and allow the conditions to do the work for them. Instead, they searched for wickets, thus moving away from the basics that made them such a formidable force across the world.

Bumrah was the main culprit – for lack of a better word – as he went for 70 of 17 no-wicket overs. It was as if an impostor with a striking physical resemblance had replaced the original. As a result, India failed to make the desired inroads despite the best efforts of Mohammed Shami and Shardul Thakur, allowing South Africa to close the series with staggering ease.

With everything on the line in the decisive game in Cape Town, India needed their barest hitter bar none and their runner up, with all due respect Shami, to raise their hand. Virat Kohli held his end of the bargain on Tuesday’s opening day with a remarkable holding round. It was now up to Bumrah to support the heroism of his captain.

The passage of the thin air from Johannesburg to the coastal climates of Cape Town seemed to have done Bumrah a world of good. Perhaps it had to do with the calming surroundings of beautiful Newlands, with the majestic Table Mountain providing a spectacular backdrop, but it is almost certain that most were due to ruthless soul-searching. Like all champion artists, Bumrah accepted the bad day in Johannesburg for what it was and decided to go back to the best version of himself, no matter how simplistic it might sound.

In the same spot where he cut his teeth on the cricket test four years ago, Bumrah submitted South Africa for a research exam on Wednesday. A symphony that started late Tuesday night culminated in a crescendo by mid-afternoon on the second day. A seventh transport from five wickets wasn’t just a formality, it was a fatality, a reaffirmation of Bumrah’s effectiveness when he sticks to being the naturally smiling assassin.

The smile manifested itself even before he turned Dean Elgar into a pretzel while squaring him up and forcing him to squeeze in to slide down the short stump passage first on the first night. It increased in proportion as Aiden Markram, against the tide, reached out for a defender on the first through second morning and was greeted by the deafening rattle as the ball made its way towards the stump. He stuck to his face when Keegan Petersen beat him beautifully, denying his inexperience with real glow, and when Temba Bavuma briefly embraced adventurism. After a brief hiatus, Bumrah had begun to appreciate the nuances of the test play, the gentle pinch-and-tuck, the push and the parry, the bluff and the burst.

Bumrah on Song is an exhilarating spectacle, a bundle of straight-lined arms and legs that challenge the biomechanics of bowling and lend a greater aura to the magic that emanates from his right hand. As momentum and action go on, there isn’t much classic about the solid 28-year-old. A brisk “walk” gives way to a stuttering in small steps and ends with a brief gallop at the end of which he uses the reinforced left knee, the hyperextended right arm, his innate strength and a quick wrist to propel the ball to great extent. pace towards the drummer. Due to the hyperextension, his hand rises further in his load than most other bowlers and descends faster, giving a catapult-like slingshot thrust on his delivery. That same trait allows him to let go of the ball a bit later than the others, meaning he hits lengths and provides a rebound that conventional wisdom suggests it shouldn’t.

On Wednesday, the best of Bumrah was in the spotlight. It was a shame that there weren’t any spectators in Newlands to participate directly in the entertainment, but even on TV it was evident that the master was at work, the real deal had resurfaced. The ball climbed alarmingly, stretched a length as if possessed, straightened up or darted as if it had a mind of its own. The scoreboard will reflect the numbers 23.3-8-42-5. As impressive as they are, they cannot do full justice to the wares Bumrah showcased as it shone the brightest on a glorious sunny day in Cape Town.

At some point over the next couple of days, Kohli will expect his kingpin to pull off a recall in the second innings and carry India’s aspirations through. This time, Bumrah will be there in terms of effort and execution, that’s all the skipper will really ask of him.

Beijing:

Cities across China are imposing tighter restrictions to try to control new outbreaks of COVID-19, with Tianjin now battling the highly contagious variant of Omicron, which has already been detected in at least two other provinces.

Officials in Tianjin told a press briefing on Tuesday that 49 cases had been confirmed during the latest outbreak. The city of 14 million people, about 100 km (62 miles) from Beijing, is now implementing strict new controls to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, especially in neighboring Beijing.

The outbreak in the city has been linked to cases in Anyang City in central China’s Henan Province, where there have been 84 confirmed infections since Saturday.

Residents leaving Tianjin will be forced to submit negative COVID-19 tests, with restrictions imposed by 279 checkpoints around the city, said Liu Daogang, vice director of Tianjin Transportation Department.

The country’s Omicron surge comes just weeks before the Lunar New Year, a peak travel time for millions of people, and cities in China are advising people to stay put, especially as Beijing gears up. to host the Winter Olympics early next month.

Zhang Boli, a government medical adviser, told state broadcaster CCTV on Tuesday that Omicron “cannot be taken lightly” even though the symptoms are not as severe as previous variants.

China has ordered the cancellation of more than two dozen scheduled flights from the United States after many passengers tested positive for COVID-19 upon arrival in China.

“Facing directly with Omicron, we found that the transmission speed was really very fast,” Zhang Ying, an official with the Tianjin Disease Control Center, said in an interview that aired on state television Monday night.

“Whether in terms of finding the origin of the virus or epidemiological investigations, the Omicron variant has brought unprecedented challenges and difficulties,” she said.

Locally transmitted

Tianjin confirmed its first two locally transmitted Omicron cases over the weekend, and Zhang said 20 infected people were found in the first 24 hours.

The city has imposed travel restrictions and launched a program of mass testing to help prevent the spread of the variant.

China reported 192 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus nationwide as of January 10, up from 157 a day earlier. Of the total, 110 were transmitted locally, up from 97 a day earlier.

There have been 87 cases in the densely populated Henan Province, according to a statement from the National Health Commission.

The provincial capital of Zhengzhou has closed non-essential public facilities like beauty salons, banned dining in restaurants and prevented taxis and ridesharing platforms from operating in quarantine zones, local officials said on Tuesday. a briefing.

Anyang from Henan confirmed on Monday that two of its new cases were on the same Omicron transmission chain as Tianjin. It is not known how many other cases in Henan are linked to Omicron.

Another Omicron infection was reported Monday in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, about 120 km (75 miles) from Shanghai on China’s east coast. The patient had traveled from Australia to Shanghai on January 5 before being transferred to Wuxi.

As the Lunar New Year approaches, other regions are leaving nothing to chance.

Authorities in the southeastern city of Shenzhen on Tuesday closed a metro station and urged residents not to purchase goods from high-risk countries.

The Southeast Island Province of Hainan, a popular tourist spot, also announced that visitors would have to test negative for COVID-19 before they can enter.

China also reported 50 new asymptomatic cases on Monday, which it categorizes separately from confirmed cases, up from 42.

There have been no new deaths, leaving the death toll at 4,636. As of Jan. 10, mainland China had 103,968 confirmed cases.

Authorities say roads at Pakistani resort are cleared after 22 people stranded in their cars in heavy snowstorm as temperatures drop

ISLAMABAD – The roads at a popular Pakistani resort town were cleared on Sunday after 22 people were trapped in their cars in a heavy snowstorm as temperatures dropped, officials said.

More than 1 meter of snow fell on Friday evening and early Saturday in the area of the resort town of Murree Hills, in the city of Murree, near the capital Islamabad. Heavy snow has buried or blocked hundreds of vehicles.

Most of the victims suffered from hypothermia when temperatures dropped to minus 8 degrees Celsius (17.6 Fahrenheit). A rescue doctor said some had died of carbon monoxide poisoning while running their car’s heating as their mufflers were suffocated in snow.

Punjabi police said in a statement that all roads in and around the complex had been cleared, but traffic entering the complex was still not allowed. Police said some 700 vehicles were removed from the snow and the remaining stranded tourists were taken to safety on Saturday evening. Most were taken to one of the five army-run relief camps and given medicine and hot meals.

Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government has come under heavy criticism for not being prepared for the situation and for acting too late, resulting in heavy loss of life. Opposition politicians Bilawal Zardari and Mariyam Nawaz have been among the criticisms of the government’s performance.

Khan admitted in a tweet that the administration was taken aback by the heavy snow and the large number of tourists visiting the resort. Traditionally, many Pakistanis, regardless of the weather forecast, flock to Murree Hills at the first snowfall.

Located 46 kilometers north of the capital of Islamabad, Murree is a popular winter resort that attracts over a million tourists each year. The streets leading to the city are often blocked by snow in winter.

Among the dead were a policeman from Islamabad and seven members of his family, a couple with two sons and two daughters from the garrison town of Rawalpindi and four friends from the northwestern town of Mardan. Their funeral was held in their hometowns on Sunday.

Islamabad officer Naveed Iqbal died with his sister, three nephews and three of his children. On his last phone call to his only surviving son, he said “we’re just going to turn on the heat and go to sleep”.

Vegan Dog Food Market Forecast to 2028 – COVID-19 Impact and Global Analysis – by Product Type (Dry Food, Wet Food, Treats and Others) and Distribution Channel (Supermarkets and Hypermarkets, Specialty Stores, Sales in online retail and others).

New York, January 06, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Reportlinker.com announces the publication of the report “Vegan Dog Food Market Forecast to 2028 – COVID-19 Impact and Global Analysis by Product Type and Distribution Channel” – https://www.reportlinker.com/p06195656/?utm_source=GNW

The vegan dog food market was valued at US $ 6,386.83 million in 2020 and is expected to reach US $ 10,839.65 million by 2028; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7.8% from 2021 to 2028.

Vegan dog food is made up of various herbal ingredients, such as corn, rice, soybeans, oatmeal, and flax seeds. The food is made without using raw materials of animal origin, ensuring that no animals are harmed or exploited in the process.

Increasingly, dog owners are concerned about the health of their pets. This is one of the main reasons for their increased spending on vegan dog food.

Food offers multiple benefits. For example, because the vegan diet is clean, dogs fed vegan foods face fewer digestion issues.

In addition, the smell of dog feces will be reduced. Factors like these are driving the adoption of vegan dog food across the world.

Based on the type of product, the vegan dog food market is segmented into dry food, wet food, treats, and others. The dry food segment dominated the market in 2020.

Dry dog food has a long shelf life and is less likely to rot. It can also be stored without refrigeration.

This makes them easy to transport and store. Plus, dry foods are high in fiber and help keep dogs’ teeth healthy by decreasing plaque buildup.

Additionally, manufacturers are fortifying vegan dog foods to improve their nutritional content and address the nutritional concerns of pet owners. Vegan dry dog food comes in a variety of forms, such as granules, kibble, and flaked cereals.

Based on the region, the vegan dog food market is segmented into North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, South and Central America, as well as Middle East and Africa. In 2020, Europe accounted for the largest market share and East Asia-Pacific is expected to register the highest CAGR during the forecast period.

The Asian-Pacific vegan dog food market is driven by the growing pet population in the region and growing consumer interest in the vegan diet. In Asia-Pacific, the growing trend to humanize pets is also expected to fuel the market growth in the years to come.

In addition, the increasing trend of veganism and the growing number of pet owners in Asia-Pacific are boosting the vegan dog food market in the region. According to the article published in Bloomberg Quint, sales of pet food in India increased by 20%, due to increased adoption of pets during the lockdown induced by the COVID-19 pandemic, manufacturers hoping to keep the trend going.

The adoption of pets is increasing at an exponential rate as individuals spend more time alone at home. The adoption of pets is increasingly popular among the younger generation. This factor is expected to open up significant growth opportunities for the vegan dog food market in Asia-Pacific in the coming years.

A few players operating in the vegan dog food market are Antos BV; Volunteer; Bond Pet Foods, Inc .; V-dog; Pets; Vegan4dogs; Wilderness ; Yarrah; Isoropimen Zootrofe Georgios Tsappis Ltd .; and Halo Animals.

The overall global vegan food for dogs market size has been calculated using primary and secondary sources. To begin the research process, a comprehensive secondary research was conducted using internal and external sources to obtain qualitative and quantitative information related to the market.

In addition, several primary interviews were conducted with industry participants to validate the data, as well as to gain more analytical information on the topic. At a very young age in New Zealand I used to accompany the local Aero Club with my late father John, who was the club secretary at the time. Guess that’s where I got stung by this little bug called aviation. The result, as most will say, is a strong desire that you just can’t shake!

After leaving school with no formal qualifications other than an unwavering affliction in aviation and the need to go my own way in life, I found myself halfway around the world and half a century later , with a full career in the Royal Marines behind me. I find myself in my dream job, piloting an air ambulance, and what a life it has been in between!

I fly over the English Channel admiring the view of the White Cliffs of Dover and the mosaic of fields that my childhood heroes like Douglas Bader, Johnny Checketts and other WWII pilots would have seen, sometimes landing on the airfield iconic Biggin Hill and, to top it off, watch Spitfires always take off from here. Who would have thought, when I read Reach for the Sky in elementary school in New Zealand all these years ago, and dreamed of the famous air battles that took place over the south coast, that I too I would fly in that same airspace trying to bring good?

From the war zone to the cockpit

I had started pilot training years ago in New Zealand, but found it difficult to earn the kind of money needed to complete the course in the small farming community where I had. grown up. So after moving to the UK, where my father was from, and well advanced in my military career, I decided to give it one last shot.

It was in 2006 that I made this decision, just before my departure for my second tour of Iraq. I took my self-study books for my Provisional Pilot License (PPL) in my comfort box and put my head there at every available moment when I was not on patrol, preparing for my PPL course on my return.

After listening to one HEMS helicopter pilot’s stories about his job, I decided it was probably the best job in the world to do – however, I couldn’t afford a helicopter license!

One momentous occasion, I was sitting studying in a Portakabin at Basra Air Base while we were there for a few days, when a rocket attack happened, landing very close and causing me to hide under a desk. This particular tour was pretty kinetic, with daily rocket or mortar attacks, plus all of the other stuff that happens while on patrol.

On my return to the UK I booked a seat for my PPL theory course and practical flight to Bournemouth. I was about to make my dream of becoming a pilot come true! Over the years, self-study books have accompanied me wherever I go. I studied hard, even in the Land Rover on exercise.

I first studied for my commercial pilot license and then followed with an Instrument Rating Rating. After listening to one HEMS helicopter pilot’s stories about his job, I decided it was probably the best job in the world to do – however, I couldn’t afford a helicopter license!

It wasn’t until I took an airline pilot license course that I met another person who flew for an Exeter based company that did the next best thing – medical repatriation. So I made it my goal.

The holiday blues are usually a temporary feeling of anxiety or depression. There is shopping and a mad rush to buy things, social events, seeing parents who stress you out – and those pressures can be very exhausting.

Just around the corner, the saddest day of the year is Blue Monday, usually the third Monday of the New Year, which this year falls on January 17, 2022. Emphasis should be placed on the word “temporary” , but this is not the case. prevent people from feeling overwhelmed.

However, according to New Bedford psychiatrist Dr. Jonathan Schwartz, some of the signs of more persistent depression are feelings of emptiness or hopelessness, outbursts of anger over small things, trouble sleeping, or loss of mind. interest or pleasure in sex and normal activities, among others.

“The pandemic has really overloaded this region which was already under stress. It is fair to say that hospitals, health centers and clinics in the region are all overwhelmed with the number of local people who want and need health services. mental, ”said Dr. Schwartz. “There are simply not enough clinicians, counselors, therapists and people who can prescribe drugs.”

People have to start somewhere, so where do you look for relief?

“Your primary care physician is a resource. I think another great resource is a website for Psychology today Magazine, which I use quite often with good results, “he said.” Another way to find help is to ask someone you know and trust. The Greater New Bedford Community Health Center will also have reliable recommendations. “

Schwartz said both locally and nationally, “We are entering a crisis where people don’t really know how to find a counselor or prescriber, or even where to start to figure out what’s wrong with them.”

Responding to the shortage of mental health care providers here, he said, “We are seeing more and more highly trained psychiatric nurse practitioners who can prescribe medication.

“If you say, ‘I’m not feeling well, I’m not motivated. I’m not enjoying life, or I’m anxious all the time but I don’t really know how to get help or understand what causes misery ”, turn to a trusted resource, because nothing is more important than enjoying your life, ”said Dr. Schwartz. “The goal is that when you wake up in the morning, you should expect to enjoy the pleasure of your day ahead. “

Dr Schwartz, in local practice for 40 years, successfully treats depression using TMS, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. Its website is concierge-tms.com.

For the first time in centuries, the carefully packaged mummified remains of Egyptian Pharaoh Amenhotep I have been examined in detail after being digitally “unwrapped” with high-tech scanners. The face mask and bandages were digitally peeled off by researchers, revealing information about his appearance and the expensive jewelry he was buried with. The researchers had called it a “unique opportunity” to analyze and explore how the pharaoh was mummified in the first place, as well as “how he was treated and buried twice, centuries after his death,” said Sky News reported.

Researchers were able to inspect the body for the first time using three-dimensional computer tomography (CT) technology. According to the Evening Standard, Egyptologists knew that the corpse had been discovered once in the 11th century BCE, more than four centuries after its mummification and burial, after decoding the hieroglyphics.

Moreover, according to experts, the priests who repaired and reburied it not only restored the damage caused by the tomb robbers but also reused the royal funeral material. However, Dr Sahar Saleem, professor of radiology at Cairo University’s Faculty of Medicine and radiologist for the Egyptian Mummy Project, and lead author of the research, said the results refuted those beliefs, according to Sky News. The research was published Tuesday in the journal Frontiers in Medicine.

The results of research on the pharaoh Amenhotep

Saleem said: “This fact that the mummy of Amenhotep I was never unboxed in modern times has given us a unique opportunity, not only to study how it was originally mummified and buried, but also how he had been treated and buried twice, centuries after his death, by the high priests of Amun. ” She went on to say that Pharaoh Amenhotep I was around 35 when he died.

According to research, the pharaoh was approximately 169cm tall, was circumcised and had healthy teeth. He donned 30 amulets and a one-of-a-kind golden belt with gold beads under his robes. he had a narrow chin, a small narrow nose, curly hair, and slightly protruding upper teeth, traits he shared with his father.

On top of that, Saleem said they had not yet located any injuries or deformities related to the disease to justify the cause of his death. She added: “With the exception of numerous postmortem mutilations, presumably by grave robbers after her first burial,” Sky News reported. Additionally, she said the first mummifiers took her insides, but not her brain or heart.

Pharaoh Amenhotep I reigned from around 1525 to 1504 BC. His name means “Amon is satisfied” in reference to Amun, the ancient Egyptian deity of the air.

MYRTLE BEACH – When U.S. Representative Tom Rice decided to support impeachment proceedings against then-President Donald Trump on January 17, many Washington reporters and insiders believed the Myrtle Beach Republican accidentally pressed the wrong button when voting.

But Rice has made it clear that his vote was no fluke and, over the past year, has stuck to his guns and has repeatedly defended his controversial decision with voters in his incredibly pro-Trump district. .

“When it got out of hand, Trump did nothing. He was watching it on TV… and tweeting that Vice President Mike Pence had no guts, ”Rice said after the vote. “I was loyal to him, but he certainly didn’t feel loyal to us.”

The pivot that came was thrown away without leaving any guesswork out of his constituents or the media. Rice became one of 10 Republicans who voted in favor of Democrat-led impeachment naming Trump for inciting the Jan.6 riot in which supporters stormed the Capitol.

The backlash for Rice’s vote was swift. The South Carolina GOP censored him for his vote and did not invite him to the party’s state conference held in his own district in Myrtle Beach.

As Rice faces a re-election bid in 2022, he already has 10 GOP challengers in his primary.

But even as he faces an uncertain political future, the congressman responded that he believed his oath to the Constitution was more important than loyalty to a politician.

In particular, his message was well received financially. Rice has raised $ 1,132,400 and has $ 1,846,000 in cash.

“People are tired, I believe, from the constant fussing and grinding of teeth and pulling out hair,” Rice said. “They want people who will work to solve problems, and that’s what I’ve tried to do all the time.”
