It’s finally here! Kim Seon Ho and Shin Min Ah’s long-awaited drama “Hometown of Cha-Cha-Cha” finally premiered on August 28 amid a lot of excitement among fans. In the first episode, we are introduced to our main characters – the ambitious and fiery Dr Yoon Hye Jin (Shin Min Ah), a dentist living a hectic life in Seoul, and on the other hand, we meet Hong Doo Sik (Kim Seon Ho) a handyman doing odd jobs, living a more comfortable and content life in the picturesque seaside village of Gongjin. In the first episode, we see Yoon Hye Jin having an altercation with her boss and this leads to her being fired from her job. She ultimately loses the chance to work anywhere in Seoul after bashing her boss on an online medical forum. Discouraged, she tries to find solace on Gongjin Beach, only to find that she has lost her missing (expensive) heels. Hong Doo Sik introduces himself as a “knight in surf armor” and returns a heel to him. When she asks him to find her other heel, he quickly hands her his replacement sandals!

Hye Jin’s car breaks down and she ends up outside a local cafe, where owner Oh Yoon happens to be a 90s marvel. Through a series of unfortunate events, Hye Jin finds herself unable to foot the bill. 9,000 KRW. His knight in shining armor, Doo Sik shows up yet again, but instead of helping him pay, he asks him to earn some money, and what better way to do that than to remove the guts of the squid on the docks? Well against Hye Jin’s wishes, Doo Sik makes her work with the old women of Gongjin to clean up the squids. Hye Jin earns his salary and Doo Shik is proud, although he doesn’t show it. Hye Jin’s car refuses to work, and she is forced to spend the night in a local sauna. Hye Jin’s supervisor calls her and states that she has been blacklisted by the entire medical community in Seoul and that the only way out for her is to get down on her knees and apologize. But Hye Jin is a tough chick and wouldn’t budge. She decides to open a dental clinic in Gongjin and finds that her shining armored knight Doo Sik is also the town’s real estate agent!

Towards the end, in a cute montage, we see Doo Sik fall in love with Hye Jin when he first sees her by the beach and thus becomes his “knight in shining armor” at every opportunity! Isn’t that sweet?

In the second episode, Chef Hong shows Hye Jin her potential new home and after much deliberation, she buys the house. Hye Jin is understandably skeptical, but eventually returns as she prepares to set up her own dental practice in Gongjin. The next day, Hye Jin is encouraged to get involved in the Elderly Party taking place in town. Although she is hesitant at first, when Hye Jin realizes that this is a good opportunity to promote her dental clinic, she goes and feels at home. Or at least she is also trying anyway. However, our “chic princess” cannot digest the kimchi offered by local women and her posh attitude rubs people the wrong way. Doo Sik gives her meaning and makes her understand that everyone’s reality is different and that a little kindness goes a long way. She feels guilty for his behavior.

Hye Jin’s only friend in Seoul, Mi Seon, calls her that she is also moving to Gongjin because her boyfriend cheated on her. The ladies decide to become roommates and business partners and together run Hye Jin’s dental clinic. However, the quaint inhabitants of Gongjin are in no mood to forgive our “chic princess” and decide to boycott her clinic. After tentatively offering rice cakes as a peace offering, Doo Sik realizes that Hye Jin needs to go further and show that she really wants to redeem herself. And what better place to do it than the ward council meeting?

Doo Sik has her covered too, showing up with boxes of snacks and handing them out to grateful residents. And of course, Hye Jin has to pay the hefty KRW 125,000 bill as a result. She even has until the end of the day to wire it! She also makes amends with Oh Yoon and tells him that one of her songs is her genre for sure. Towards the end, she rushes to the seashore to thank Doo Sik for being so helpful throughout. However, she slips off the rock and lands in Doo Sik’s arms in true K-drama style! Of course, we are also told that the two met as children on the same beach! Talk about fate!
