Chelmsford High Recognizes Students of the Month for April 6

CHELMSFORD – Chelmsford High School recently honored its students for the month of April.
Emerson House
Sofia d’Agostino, daughter of Paul and Nancy D’Agostino, has taken advanced level courses in psychology and environmental sciences. A highly honored student, she was inducted into the National Society of Honor and the Spanish Society of Honor. She is a class delegate and a member of DECA and Best Buddies.
Sofia played volleyball and lacrosse for all four years and was a selection of all Merrimack Valley Conference conferences in both cases, and played field hockey in her senior year, winning the award for academic star Joanne Paquette. She is interested in pursuing a career in pharmaceutical science at UMass Lowell and playing Division I lacrosse.

Yash Sahoo, son of Satish Sahoo and Gayatri Bir, attended advanced level courses in physics, calculus, biology and psychology. He has been inducted into the National Honor Society and the Science Honor Society. He received a 2020 Marriot Foundation grant, earning $ 5,000 to pursue independent research with solar cells outside of school.
Last summer Yash independently studied anatomy and physiology because he is extremely interested in pursuing a career in the medical field. He also co-authored a research article published in the Journal of Advanced Chemical Sciences.
Hawthorn house

Marie hamilton, daughter of Daniel and Holly Mansfield, took advanced courses in English and psychology. She has been inducted into the National Honor Society, English Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and Science Honor Society. She has received the Rotary Youth Leadership Award, the Emerging Leader Award and a PRIDE Award. She is a member of the award-winning a capella group The Thursdays and has been a member of the Theater Guild for four years.
Mary has served as Yearbook Editor, Freshman Mentor, and Member of the Student Executive Council, and a member of Leadership in Motion Everywhere and the American Sign Language Club. She volunteers for Haunt for a Cure, the Friends of Music Bottle and Can Drive, and in her church. She hopes to attend Assumption University or St. Anselm College to major in elementary education.

Sammy Kettani, son of Ali and Gabriela Kettani, took courses in advanced placement calculus, psychology, environmental science and computer science, maintained his honor roll status for four years and was inducted to the National Honor Society and the Science Honor Society. He has been a first year mentor and member of the TV Club and Best Buddies.
Sammy competed for the ski and winter track teams and was captain of the tennis team. He volunteers for the Chelmsford Senior Center, Destination Imagination and the Lowell Transitional Living Center. He plans to major in biochemistry at the University of Miami, then work in the biotech industry or attend dental school.
Whittier House

Jenna LaRochelle, daughter of Steve and Lisa LaRochelle, took advanced research courses in investment, environmental science, calculus and psychology. She has been inducted into the National Honor Society, English Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and Science Honor Society. She has been a class rep, first year mentor, and a member of the Yearbook Club and the dance team.
Jenna is active in dancing, participating in dance telethons and teaching younger children. She plans to study behavioral neuroscience or psychology, then become a psychiatrist or psychologist.

Zacharie LaRochelle, son of Steve and Lisa LaRochelle, enrolled in Advanced Placement Calculus, Psychology and Physics. He has been inducted into the National Honor Society, English Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and Science Honor Society.
Zach has competed for the cross-country ski, baseball, ski and winter track teams, and has been named the senior cross-country ski and baseball captain. He is an Eagle Scout and volunteers with cleaning up churches and town meetings, as well as with youth baseball. He plans to major in biomedical engineering and get a job where he can help people with biology related issues.
