Boxing star Gervonta Davis takes on Rolly Romero before the end of the year in a fight that was greeted with a great reception on social media this week.

Davis and Romero, who have ties to Floyd Mayweather, will face off in what looks to be a great Mayweather Promotions game.

Commenting on the fight, the World Boxing Association confirmed that one of their many titles will be on the line.

They said: “The world boxing calendar will add another big fight for the final month of the year with the confirmation of the fight between World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight champion Gervonta Davis and Rolando Romero on the 5th. December at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

“Tank” is one of the most talented young fighters in the sport. It’s always a treat for fans to watch his fights.

“The 27-year-old American just picked up an authoritative victory over Mario Barrios in the super lightweight last June, proving that his power is felt in this division as well.

“Now he will come back to 135 pounds to make the second defense of his black and gold title. He won it in December 2019 by beating veteran Yuriorkis Gamboa in Atlanta.

“In October of last year, the southpaw retained that belt with a resounding knockout against Leo Santa Cruz in San Antonio.

“The December fight caught the attention of fans because Rolando Romero is a serious, young and undefeated opponent. He wants to get Davis in trouble.

“Rolly,” 26, deserved this opportunity as he was interim WBA champion prior to the Resolutions due to the World Championship downsizing plan.

“He’s number one in the standings and as a result will fight for the world title.

“The event will be organized by TGB Promotions and broadcast by Showtime on PPV.

“Gervonta has 25 wins. He is undefeated and has eliminated 24 of his opponents. Romero is also undefeated in 14 fights, with 12 of those wins by knockout. “
