Local dentists ask more veterans to apply for Smiles for Soldiers program
LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Local dental companies are teaming up with Hill and Ioppolo for oral and dental implant surgery to bring a new smile to a veteran. This is the fifth year of the Smiles for Soldiers program, which provides a free local veteran with a full arch restoration procedure.
“We bring in a patient with failed teeth, we take those teeth out and replace them with a fixed bridge in one sitting, so that’s usually a day’s work, and again with all the different people I’ve reported. . to help you, we do this in one patient appointment, ”says veteran oral surgeon Dr Robert Ioppolo.
He says this procedure, which normally costs $ 24,000, provides a healthy, permanent smile. Dr Iopollo says veterans often need this procedure because of the lack of dental maintenance they receive after discharge.
“When they’re on active duty, they have excellent access to care and all of their dental needs are covered, and then as soon as they leave the military, it’s something that only some people who have some level of disability or who have a certain condition that they developed while on active duty have the same level of care from the EVA after discharge.
Dr. Ioppolo served thirteen years in the United States Army and says his own service gave him a passion to give back to the community that gave him so much.
“I was in the military for thirteen years, nine active years and four reserved years, and that’s how I got all of my training to be able to do what I do every day.”
